Unified Payments Interface abbreviated as UPI is an instant payment system. Instant transfers can be done at Zerodha UPI.
UPI is a layer over IMPS (Immediate Payment Service) therefore, no integration is required with individual banks, unlike payment. This has led to an increase in the number of UPI transactions done by numerous clients.Ā
You can use Zerodha UPI for the easy addition of funds to your trading account. Zerodha provides the UPIĀ payment gateway that enables you to transfer funds from your mapped bank. You may use any UPI app/platform to do so. The best part, all this happens at the convenience of your handy mobile phone.
However, you must note that UPI transfers may be done from any bank account at a maximum limit of ā¹ 1 lakh per day.
Zerodha UPI ID
You do not need to create a separate UPI ID for Zerodha. Zerodha trading allows the transfer of funds from your registered bank account to your trading account absolutely free. Refer below to learn more.
Adding funds on Zerodha through UPI
- Log in to Kite and select the fundsā tabĀ
- Then click on āAdd Fundsā
- A payment window will open, select UPI amongst the payment modes
- Enter your UPI ID (just ensure that the bank account mapped to your UPI ID is the same as that of your Zerodha account)Ā
- Click on āContinueā
- You will then receive a collect request from ZerodhaĀ
- Approve the transfer request and enter your UPI PIN
- Make sure that you click on āCloseā in this window. If you do not close the page/window, the fund transfer may take some time.
If you follow the procedure as instructed, the funds will reflect in your Zerodha Account in the Pay-in section under the fundsā tab.
Note that any fund transfer to your Zerodha trading account between 12:00 am to 7:30 am shall reflect in the trading terminal only after 7:30 am.
Zerodha UPI Charges
The Zerodha UPI is free for all peer to peer transactions. On the other hand, financial service businesses are charged ā¹15 per transaction.Ā
The company has been negotiating with its banking partner to render Zerodha UPI charges free for the first 6 months, and even beyond that for high-volume transactions.Ā
Zerodha UPI Payment Failed
While making payments through Zerodha UPI, if the transaction fails even after trying several times, this is what you may be doing wrong:
It is probable that you may be trying to transfer funds directly from the UPI app.Ā
The right way is to first log in to Zerodha Kite>then go to funds> and finally accept the payment request. You may use the UPI app of choice (Google Tez, Paytm, PhonePe, MobiKwik, etc.)
You can initiate a fund transfer from both Zerodha Kite as well as Zerodha Pi.Ā
DO NOT initiate a fresh transfer request using Zerodhaās VPA. Making direct transfers to Zerodhaās VPA will result in the money not reflecting in your Zerodha account.Ā
Besides, fund transfer from bank accounts registered with the Zerodha account only is entertained.
Zerodha Google Pay
Zerodha allows its clients to add funds with Google Tez using Zerodha Kite.Ā
Fund transfer to your Zerodha account with Google Pay is both quick and simple. In just a matter of seconds, your funds will reflect in your Zerodha account.
This makes Fund transfers a lesser complex process than internet banking.

Zerodha Fund Transfer Issue
#I added funds through UPI on Sunday but it appears as pending. Why?
The reason behind funds not reflecting in your account is the āSundayā.Ā No withdrawable balance is updated on Sundays. However, you should be able to withdraw this amount on or after Monday.
#Can fund be transferred to Zerodha directly from the UPI app?
The answer is No. You can not initiate a direct fund transfer from the UPI app. Only fund transfer requests initiated from Kite (both web and mobile) will be entertained.
Your funds shall be transferred after you approve the Zerodhaās transfer request on the respective UPI app.
#How to make a UPI transfer to the Zerodha trading account using kite mobile?
The Zerodha UPI payment option enables one to add funds from the UPI and Zerodha registered bank account. Any of these may be used – Google Pay, BHIM, etc. Keep in mind that UPIās maximum daily limit is ā¹1 Lakh.
- Go to the Funds page on Kite mobile app and click on Add Funds
- A new window will appear and āenter the amountā message will be prompted
- Select your desired UPI app on your phone
- Once authorized, the transaction will be completed
#What is the limit of the fund transfer at Zerodha?
You can transfer a maximum of ā¹50,000 per day and aĀ maximum of ā¹25,000 per transaction.
