Forgot your Zerodha password or not sure how to change it? We have got your back!
As an existing client, it is very likely that you may have faced issues with your Zerodha password.
Once you apply for your Zerodha account, it usually takes 24 to 48 hours for your ZPin to be generated. Further, your user id and password take another 24 to 48 hours (id and password are generated only after the issue of ZPin).
Your Zerodha free demat account user id and password are sent via mail and you may even change the default password on Zerodha Kite.
However, many clients tend to forget their Zerodha password due to multiple changes, out of the box password name or due to the mix-match of another website’s/mail passwords.
You can change or reset your Zerodha password by logging in to Zerodha Kite.
Zerodha Password Change
Let’s assume that you happened to share your password and now regret it. Yes, you must have been worried about your Zerodha Password but just relax. It’s pretty simple to change it.
Here’s how you undergo the procedure of Zerodha password change:
- First and foremost, you need to log in to your Zerodha Kite
- Then, at the top right corner, click on the user ID
- From the menu, select “My Profile”
- A new page will appear. On the top right corner, click on change password
- Enter your current password for authentication and then enter the new password
- Click on Save and you are done!
Zerodha Forgot Password
It’s unfortunate if you forget your Zerodha password then you can reset password with Zerodha Kite.
- Visit Zerodha Kite and click on the “Forgot password” option.
- Then, enter your User ID and PAN. You may reset the Zerodha password using your registered email or contact number as well.
- If you wish to opt for the same, either select ‘E-mail’ or ‘SMS’.
- Enter your registered email id or contact number (whatever the case may be).
- Then, enter the displayed CAPTCHA and click on ‘Reset’.
- You will receive a link on your registered mail if you opted for E-mail.
- While if you chose ‘SMS’, you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number.
- Enter the PIN or OTP as the case may be. Having done this, you will be redirected to a new page.
- Set a new password of your choice & PIN and click on ‘Save’.
Remember to turn off the DND setting on your mobile as you may not receive the OTP if DND is enabled.
Zerodha Log In ID Change
Zerodha provides its clients with a unique login ID which they can use to log in across all Zerodha platforms. The ID contains 6 characters and is alphanumeric.
The login ID is sent to your registered email after your Zerodha account has been opened.
It is a combination of alphabets and numbers and looks somewhat like this – AA0011
If you tend to forget your login ID, you can recover it only through Zerodha support.
Call the support desk or raise a ticket online.
The Zerodha representative will ask you to confirm your PAN number and date of birth to proceed with the login id recovery.
Zerodha Password Reset
To sum up, with the Zerodha password resetting procedure, remember the simple formula:
Login> Click>Enter>S et.
This simply implies:
- Log in to your Zerodha Kite and click on the user ID.
- Now, Select “My Profile”.
- Click on “change password” and enter a new password (you must enter the existing password first)
- Hit enter and your new password is set.

Is the same password used for Zerodha Kite and Zerodha Pi?
Well, the answer is yes. You can log in to Zerodha Kite (both web and the mobile app) and Zerodha Pi with the same Zerodha Login ID and password that you are provided by Zerodha.
However, the NEST password will not be the same. Contact Zerodha support to generate your NEST password.
Can the Zerodha login ID be changed?
No, your Login ID generated by Zerodha can not be changed or altered. Once your unique ID is created and allocated to you there’s nothing that you can do to change it.
The reason being, all user IDs are created on the exchange. Therefore, once your unique ID is updated on the exchange, it can not be changed. As of now, there’s no provision for customized login IDs.
I received my Zerodha login ID but nor the password. What to do?
Well, you must ideally receive both your login ID and password within 24 to 48 working hours from your account application.
You are sent a welcome mail on your registered email address from Zerodha from the id – no-reply@zerodha.com. This contains your login ID, password as well as the link to set your Kite password.
Any delay may be due to incorrect documents or even your email settings (the mail may be sent to spam or junk)
How can I change my Zerodha registered mobile number or email id?
You can change your registered mobile number or email by visiting Zerodha Profile under Console. You can make all your desired changes under the personal tab.
This tab comprises date of birth, registered mail id, mobile number, and PAN. Just click on the pencil logo beside the email or mobile to reset it.
Simply enter the desired e-mail/mobile number and, click on continue. As a verification procedure, an OTP will be sent to your new email or mobile number.
Once the OTP verification is done, it takes about 24 hours for the new email id/contact number to be updated.
Since January 17, 2019, Zerodha does not charge any fee for modifying email id or mobile number.
How to change the Zerodha security question?
You can change the security questions from the Kite web.
- Visit the kite web and click on “forgot password”.
- Enter your login Id, email, and PAN number.
- Click on Reset Questions.
- Go back to the login page and log in again.
- A list of 20 security questions will appear.
- Set the new answers and log in again. You are all set to trade again.
Why can’t I log in to Zerodha Q using the Kite login details?
You must note that despite Kite and Q being associated with Zerodha, these are two different applications. They are provided by Zerodha for different purposes.
You can, however, log in to Q with the kite login by a special method. This involves visiting the Q back office through the kite. On the top right corner of the kite profile, click on – go to Q-Backoffice.
The login id will be the same for both Q and Kite.
While using Q, a separate password is given to you that you must change immediately after getting logged in. Likewise, Kite shall have a separate password.
