As already discussed, DP charges are the charges levied on your Demat Account everytime you sell shares. These charges are not included in the brokerage and are therefore not reflected in the contract note.

Also, here it is important to know that these charges is charged per scrip and not on the volume of stocks being sold. Thus, whether you sell 1 share or 100 shares, the DP charges remain the same.

These charges are levied by the depositories and depository participant. If the stock is part of Nifty then the charges are imposed by the NSDL and for the BSE stocks, the fees is being levied by the CDSL.

So here, when trading with Stoxkart, these charges are imposed by the CDSL.

Stoxkart DP charges is ā‚¹15.5+18% GST per scrip when the demat account is sold. Apart from this the DP charges for Mutual fund is ā‚¹5.5.

To understand its concept let’s take an example.

Since Stoxkart charges ā‚¹15.5 per scrip. Now let’s suppose, you buy 10 shares of Infosys and 10 shares of TCS. Now once you buy, the shares get transferred to your Demat account in T+2 days.

Now you make your mind to sell shares after 10 days. You sell 2 shares of Infosys and 2 shares of TCS.

Here since you are selling shares of two different companies total DP charges are 15.5 x 2= 31+18%GST i.e ā‚¹31.58Ā

Now again after 15 days of buying stocks, you sell 1 share of TCS is equal to ā‚¹15.5 plus 18% GST i.e. 18.29

Again in the month you sold the remaining shares of Infosys i.e. 8 shares, then again the Stoxkart DP charges would be ā‚¹18.29 irrespective of the number of shares.

In all the charges being imposed by the broker, the depository participant able to make their earnings.
